Doubts about Ram for 4690K

Go to solution Solved by genexis_x,

Yes it will work by enabling XMP profile

Hi,

So I need to upgrade my Ram since Im buying a new Gpu.. I want 2x8Gb but don't know if my CPU(4690K) supports 2400 ram (my mobo does) since intel page sais 1333/1600.

  1. If 2400 is really usable by the cpu i would buy this -> [[G.Skill F3-2400C10D-16GTX mem RAM DDR3 de 16GB (2400MHz, 240-pin, 2x 8GB) DDR3-RAM]]
  2. If I only can use 1600 I would buy this one -> [[G.Skill TridentX - Kit 2 mem RAM (2 x 8 GB DDR3, 1600 MHz, CL7, PC3-12800)]]

my specs

  • - 4690K
  • - asus z97a

And by the way I have 4x2Gb 1333 I would retire, is it worth upgrading to 16GB? Im getting a 980Ti

If your motherboard supports the frequency that is all the matters, enable XMP on it's BIOS and you're done.
