Should I buy A 750Ti for $50?

Alright i have a 1080 and my bud is offering me a 750ti saying i should make like a test bench or something. I think its a great offer but I cant see use in it. Should I get it why would I need it?

If you can't think of a reason for why you'd need it, how are we supposed to think of a reason?

It's a good deal if you had something to do with it...
Just because something is cheap doesn't mean you gain something by buying it.... Even if it were 1$ when you don't need it you're still wasting 1$ for something you don't need.

No, if you don't need one there's no reason to. Why would you want a test bench? Do you test components regularly that you wouldn't just test with your regular PC? The only reason I can think of is if you want to build an HTPC/NAS (which is what I use my FX8120+GTX760 build for) and don't have a spare GPU to put in it. Why spend money on something you don't need? Just save that $50 for something that you actually want/need or put it into a "future upgrades fund". Your friend should just sell it to some kid who wants to build a budget PC and doesn't have the money for anything else.

It would almost certainly be a bottleneck in a system with a 1080 (the 1080 would probably handle rendering and physics faster than the 750Ti could do just the physics) and generate unnecessary heat and power consumption in the system. Not to mention that very few games have PhysX support anyway.

Anyway you should not buy stuff just because it's a good deal. That's how people end up with 100s of unplayed games on steam.

You buy it if you need it or want it now and can make good use of it.
