yeah, the 960 isn't the most powerful card ever. 

 

what you could try is plugging the monitor that you want to watch the youtube stuff on into the integraded graphics. that would free up some room on the 960...

I thought of that before, just couldn't be bothered to do it  I'll try it at some point though. Thanks for the help!

Guess it was the CPU after all  just tried it with the 2nd monitor plugged into the motherboard and the exact same result as with the GPU. RIP.
