Can I run OBS

So, I just got about $150 in my wallet and plan on getting some new parts... Wondering if I can stream with those. There will be a capture card and OBS will be running with 2 lightweight programs.

 

 

Intel Core i3 2120 3.3ghz

8gb DDR3 1333mhz

r7240 (Will be upgraded to an Rx460

 

WILL BE STREAMING 720P

I don't think a i3-2120 is suitable for 720p streaming with OBS..

How much would an i5 or even an i7 cost? I'm sure you can an i5 for that price range. 

 

 

EDIT: Just looked at Ebay prices for used i7 2600. They are within your price range. You can pick one up.

Well im buying an old refurbished Optiplex 790 with the i3 and 4gb already installed i have another 4gb to put in to make it 8. I will end up upgrading my processor later I was just hoping for good news lol.

get an older OEM build with a 3770, quote people.

You can do this easily, i know people who stream on slower hardware. Just try it. Its all free software.

i managed to stream at 480p with an atom 330 CPU ... that i3 should be ok with 720p streaming as long as you don't run CPU heavy games

i managed to stream at 480p with an atom 330 CPU ... that i3 should be ok with 720p streaming as long as you don't run CPU heavy games

Will it being a dual core matter?

Capture card would take load off CPU for recording/encoding part. But playing games will still stress CPU. More cores is better, but I've seen people using Pentium G's so...

CPU wise it's fine, I've tried it, just make sure lock 30fps 720p
