Does this switch still work?

I messed up and plugged the wrong power cord into my 5 port gigabit Ethernet switch and burnt it. A little bit of smoke came out of the side vent and gave the room a smokey smell. But when using the power cord meant for the switch, the power led still lights up. (I didn't plug Ethernet cable into it. So I don't know if Ethernet ports work.) Could that mean the switch still works and is fine to use? Should I test the Ethernet ports out? I don't think the switch got warm/hot at all.

The power led is often really dumb and doesn't tell you if the circuit is working right.

 

If Ethernet does work, is it still safe to use?

I'm worried that it might catch on fire. Not worried much about the Ethernet ports.

Try it out... any smoke or anything unplug immediately and try to keep anything flammable far away

You could just crack it open and find out what released the magic smoke. Maybe it was an easily replaceable part ;) .
