So I've decided on upgrading to a RX 570 and now it's time to decide on the CPU to upgrade to.

I play in 1080p, I don't really care about maxing graphics and stuff but i'd like to play on medium and/or high with 60FPS.

I've looked at the i3 (Intel® Core™ i3-7350K Kaby Lake is the cheapest one on the site I usually look at) and I've looked at the new Ryzen but 1600 costs 50€ (someone recommeneded to me) more than the i3, and I've heard i3 is actually just completely fine for gaming.

And if I upgrade to i3, I need to buy new RAM as well, right?

I only play PUBG and League right now (banned for 2 weeks xd) and plan on getting into Destiny 2 and maybe Escape from Tarkov.

You can recommend me anything but I'm not exactly rich so something cheap but not complete dogshit would be nice.

Do NOT get an i3

Either get a G4560 ($70) or wait fro Ryzen's R3 lineup due out in the second half of 2017 (either one will require DDR4 ram so Yes you will need new RAM as well)

Any specific reason why not to get an i3?

And is the R3 going to be high-end or more budget?

Lowest i3, the i3-7100 is $110 @3.9ghz, g4560 is $70 @3.5ghz. 90% of the performance for 60% of the price.

And especially for what you're doing, with the RX570 you wont have any issues with bottle necking

Just looked up the G4560 (60€ here) and the i3 I was looking at (150€) https://www.netonnet.se/art/datorkomponenter/processor/intelsocket1151/intel-core-i3-7350k-4-20ghz/240929.11749/

If they're so similiar in performance how come one of them is much cheaper? There must be some major downside.

Nope! No major downside. Theyre both dual cores with hyper threading, Both based off the same architecture. Both have the same TDP (within 3w).

No one on this forum will recommend you get an i3 anymore, now that the G4560 is being sold!

"Insert Tyler1 Joke." And see if you can't afford the R5 1400.

Oh yeah, forgot. Any MOBO and RAM recommendations for the G4560 (don't really plan on overclocking)

the G4560 is locked anyways, though the entire R3/5/7 chips are unlocked!

Basically the cheapest RAM you can find that you can stand looking at (2400mhz, thats the max speed the G4560 will support IIRC) and any B250 ATX sized board (I'm assuming) you can get in the $60 to $90 range depending on feature set.

How about PUBG and upcoming games like the ones I mentioned (Destiny 2 and Escape from Tarkov), should perform well with RX 570?

Should be alright, thought I don't know enough about the upcoming to say for certain, and PUGB has a load of optimization they still need to do.
