Hey guys so ive been having ip issues and its quite annoying, Whenever i try to host a server on any sandbox game people cant connect to me and my ip is all fucked up. Right now im using IPV4 and when i look up my ip adress it has random characters, Something like this (e487:218w7s:91283.91) Instead of a proper IP. I've tried switching to IPV6 but when i do i get no internet. Any tips?

So there is definitely some confusion going on in this thread.

First off, @ozisike, the IP you've described is likely an IPV6 address.

This is your WAN IP address, NOT your internal IP Address. This is the IP Address assigned to your Modem by your ISP. You could try calling your ISP and see if they can assign you IPV4 addressing instead?

There may not be anything you can do about it though, some ISP's will make this kind of change for you, and others won't. Some will but may charge a fee or force you to get a Static IP Address.

Your Router (Or Modem, if it's an All In One box) is likely performing IPV6 to IPV4 NAT conversion - it's taking the IPV6 address, and then converting it and assigning IPV4 addresses locally.

You can see if the games you're trying to host support IPV6 - if they do, then follow whatever instructions you find online, and your friends should still be able to connect.

Note: You may also have to deal with Port Forwarding in your Router.

Second Note: If your ISP uses "Carrier Grade NAT" (Basically, this means they take a bunch of different customers, and assign them all one IP to share), there's likely nothing you can do to make it work.
