I have a 100mbps router that I'm not aloud to upgrade but is it possible to get a switch and have 4 ports going from the router to the switch and only 1 port going from the switch to my pc to get 400mbps? Or do switches not work that way? If they don't can someone tell me how it would be possible without having to get a 4 port pcie network card because my pc is far away from my router and I don't want to spend 4x as much money on a cable and have to deal with another 3 cables

your still going to be stuck with 100mbit, you can't use teaming here.

If you want faster speeds you have to pay for faster speeds from your isp.

i pay for 200mbps and the wifi company I'm with supplies the router that also works as the modem too and i get near enough 200mbps wireless when I'm some what close to the router but for some reason the ethernet is only 100mbps so i thought that if i could do what i thought i mighth be able to do i might be able to get the whole 200mbps and maybe 400mbps on file transfer because i use my pc as a NAS too for storing all my videos, pictures, films, games, etc that i  and my family uses fairly regularly on laptops

you can normally buy your own router + modem. Its cheaper and faster.

If you get a switch you can have gig transfers between you lan devices.

I wish I could but because my dad actually pays for it and my whole family uses it they always tell me I can't change it because currently if they get a problem with it they call up the service provider
