Chrome is known to be a memory hog. Get more ram or stop using it as @NinJake advised. I'd also try clearing chromes cache and deleting temp files to try and help a bit.

I would try to get 12+gb of ram.

Or don't use chrome.

Well buying memory is not really a solution for me. I use chrome because it has the nicest hangouts extesion.

I have the same, sitting at 8+ gigs when just having a few tabs open. I personally think it's just a matter of chrome using a lot of RAM aswell as some Windows 10 features potentially eating it up. If you're having issues where you run out of ram, I'd recommend you get more than 12 gigs.

Well the thing is it wasn't like that before was sitting at about 20-30% usage with chrome on. Now even if i turn off chrome and all other background stuff still completly idle at 40% with nothing opened. I think the issue is somewhere else.

Btw as mentioned above by @jeffmeyer5295 I cleaned temp files and stuff and turned off evey single process that can be turned off still sitting at 40% usage.

You are using windows 10 right?

If so I would go into your task manager and disable anything that isn't necessary in the startup tab, clear out temp files again, then reboot see if it still persists. Also go through programs and features and delete any bloatware. If you are using any always running software like the RGB managers and such, delete them and see if that helps. I've also seen steam auto update and programs like that chew up a lot of resources.

If the issue still persists there are ways to fix it, but it is difficult to explain via text and is usually better to just get into the hands of someone who can fix it or re-image the machine yourself.

Just a few random pointers here, I'm sure a lot of people here have good info on how to freshen up a pc. 40% at idle is not abnormal for a used windows install, things build up overtime.

I did that. And i keep doing it when i install new stuff. Since i don't have SSD boot takes like forever.

Will try to stop steam services but they will come back on when i start a game so... Yep probably will end up factory resetting my windows.

I don't mind usage but it does freeze even when i drag n drop files. On so basic tasks like photoshop barely moves windows and ye... It's annoying as hell
