1440p 144HZ, minimum cost? Already got parts to reuse if needed.

My current specs:

CPU : AMD FX 6300

RAM : 8 GB

Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43

GPU: 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (270 if I'm not mistaking)

PSU: TS XFX 550W

Moniter: GOING TO BUY - AOC Agon AG271QX

I would like to play games at 1440p 144HZ (I don't mind playing on the lowest settings, and I won't be playing the newest of games, just the casual like League of Legends, Dota and maybe a few other games that are slightly harder to run like WoW? I have the budget to buy everything I need, but also saving for a car at the same time, so the least it will cost me the better :). (Other than gaming, I'll do slight video editing, nothing too intense).

Thank you!!!

Here.  Doesn't really break the bank and follows a nice color scheme.  You'll get away with mid-high 1440p gaming with this PC.

Don't get a 1060 6GB, specially for that price. Get a rx 580 8gb. Also why a liquid cooler for a locked i5? Use the stock cooler and with the saved money get a 120-240GB ssd for OS/Games

Get a Ryzen 5 1600 or 1400 (cheaper), 16GB RAM, a decent B350 mobo (the MSI PCmate is the cheapest ATX AM4 mobo rn, and it's pretty nice), and an RX580 8GB. I'll slap together a PCPartPicker list as soon as I can.

@Jackson, The Computer Dude @QuantumBit

A few questions if you don't mind.

1) If I already have 8GB ram, should I get another 8 GB of the same kind or just go with a different kit that's cheaper,

2) What air cooler can I go with? Not a fan of liquid (don't feel like getting into that right now even if it's better).

3) I should overclock this system right?

3) I should overclock this system right?

1) I think the RAM you have is DDR3, and kabylake uses DDR4 mostly, You're better off buying a DDR4 8 or 16GB kit

2) Stock should be fine

3) Don't overclock, get a locked i5 7500 or locked i7 7700

This is an ideal build for your needs. Excluding case as I assume you have 1 and because cases are personal preference

EDIT: If you buy a locked kaby lake i5 vs the unlocked 6 core 12 thread ryzen R5 then that would be a major mistake for current and long term.

It's a full build, so you can cut out the case, PSU, hard drives, etc if you already have those. And you could drop to a Ryzen 5 1400 or a 580 4GB (or even a 570, if you are willing to turn down more settings) to save some cash.

Looks good on the whole but no storage or PSU. Do you have those? You need a minimum of 500W really and I'd say a small SSD with large HDD combo works best.

1. You can't re-use your RAM.

2. Stock cooler with Ryzen will be fine, or any $20-30 cooler would do. Cryorig, Be Quiet, and Phanteks tend to be my go to's these days.

3. Sure, if you have an unlocked CPU, no reason not to.

There really isn't a minimum you can spend, you just need to come up with a budget you're comfortable with. That said, this is the cheapest I'd go for 1440p 144Hz;

An RX 580/GTX 1060 isn't going to be enough to play 1440p at high-max settings woth 60FPS, never mind anything close to 144FPS, so a GTX 1070 is a much better option.

Kind of defeats the purpose of 1440p, 144Hz. Just spend a good chunk less money for a 1080p 144Hz monitor. Plus, I've managed to get the build a good $200+ cheaper than other recommendations AND fit in a better GPU anyway, there's really no reason for him to go with a mid ranged GPU like the RX 580 for 1440p 144Hz.
