On my fairly new PC, about 3 weeks old, I have 6 Corsair SP120 fans in the case hooked up to a fan hub in the back of the case. I then plug the hub into the motherboard, and can change the speeds in the BIOS of my ASUS Z170-A motherboard. I boot my PC, and the fans are running extremely quiet. When the heats increase, so does the fan speeds. But when I stop gaming, or stress testing, and leave the PC while I'm at work for 5 hours, I come home and the fan speeds are still at the speeds they should be when the system is under load, even though it has been idling. Restarting fixes it, but I don't want to have to do that just to slow the fan speeds down. Any help would be great!

What unit are you monitoring and setting the fan speed according to (cpu, gpu, mb) and what are the temps of this unit?

If it's the bios on the motherboard that's faulty, then try using SpeedFan.

What are your specs and temps? Have you tried lowering fan speeds?

Update to latest BIOS? That fixes small issues like these. Fan speeds should drop immediately after stress ends. Slowly maybe but within minutes when temps drop.

Sorry for the late reply. I have a ASUS Z170-A with an i7 6700k overclocked to 4.5ghz. Under an AIDA stress test it runs at around 64 degrees celsius. Would the fact that I'm using a fan hub make a difference? I used the BIOS settings on the silent preset, having it run quietly when it is low temps and ramp up when its high temps.

I haven't updated this BIOS yet and never done it before, I'll do that and let you know.
