System Or Headphones Max

Is it best for my headphones  longevity and quality to have the volume maxed on the system volume / motherboard / windows or max it on the volume slider that is half way down the headphone cord? Then adjust via the one that isnt maxed.

I would say system.

Then turn up your headphones till its at a comfortable level.

i always keep my system volume at 80% and ramp the programs volume bar up / headset up. i always find it does the best. Or use an EQ with a limiter to stop it

Always the system as high as possible. You max out the amp and minimum systems, and you can blow your driver if something bugs out.

Depends on the amp really. Take my car for example,where it likes input at half volume and out put at half, and that is just where it's g spot is. Other products will react differently, though in my general use case on my tower I will max the softwares volume and then go through and adjust volume at the end point weather that be my fiio or my other amp.

For longevity, doesn't matter as long as you stay at reasonable levels.

 

For quality, it's probably best to leave the slider on the cord all the way up. I'm not familiar with how they work exactly, but they probably add resistance in series to lower volume and that can impact audio quality.
