First build

Go to solution Solved by helping,

looks good tom me, expect the MOBO might be a little overkill.

But don't quote me on that. ^^

The Hero is really the only ROG board that most people can make use of.

Build looks good, only difference is I would consider a Barracuda instead of the WD black to trim costs a bit. You don't really need the capture card, and overclocked i7 should be enough.

I would avoid XFX though, they are notorious for having locked voltages and poor customer support, on top of that the Double D cooler is dreadfully awful.

As the holidays approach I intend to get myself a little gift  and hopefully have everything by the end of December or beginning of January. Since it's the holiday season I expect a lot of parts to go on sale so I want to get my list together now and buy the parts over the coarse of the next month or so.

I've been using a "gaming laptop" (yes, I am ashamed) for the last 2 - 2 ½ years and I've got to say it's gotten the job done for me for the most part, but it's not cutting it anymore.

I'm looking to build my very first computer, but as I have never built one before I'm not so sure what what would be the best bang for my buck.

1. Budget & Location

United States - 1500$ - 1800$

2. Aim

Gaming, Live Streaming, Video Editing.

3. Monitors

I have a pretty nice monitor atm so i'm not too worried about adding anymore.

4. Peripherals

Keyboard, I've gotten pretty used to the chiclet keyboard on my laptop but i'm looking for a standard keyboard (not a loud one).

5. Why are you upgrading?

Laptops are a pain.

I put together a nice little list on pcpartpicker but If could substitute any of the currently picked parts for something better but also cheaper or get a bit more performance by increasing the price by a few bucks i'm all for it.

I'm not someone who goes crazy over graphics so it's not like I will be running everything at ultra but I want a system that will maintain 60+fps on high/mid settings on current and future games.

I went with the i7 4770k because I intend on streaming regularly and the hyper threading helps, but somewhere down the line I do intend to get a Avermedia Live Gamer HD which from what I hear takes the load of streaming off of the cpu, which might completely diminish the purpose of having the 4770k, so I'm wondering should I cut the price down a bit and go with a 4670k and then eventually pick up an avermedia, or would the 4770k be better in the long run.

As I said above my budget is $1500-1800 so I still have plenty of room to work with. You will see some parts missing such as the optical drive and os, that is because I have a copy of windows 7 saved on a flash drive, although I am thinking about upgrading to windows 8.1

I would like to keep/have a black & red color scheme going, but it's not a necessity.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

That's a while from now. Plan later--2-3 days at most before you buy. Parts and prices change frequently.
