Pump and coolant Question.

So I am working on my rig 2.0 project and decided to screw it all and go full custom loop after all :)

Now most of the stuff I can figure out quite reasonably, but as a bit of a newb with the watercooling stuff I have 2 questions I want to pass past the crowd here.

1: Pumps.

All the pumps just make me look very confused without a clue what is what :P. Of course to get pump advice you need to know what the loop will contain: Which will be 1 GPU block, 1 CPU block, and 2 360mm rads of around 45mm will have to see what fits (Phanteks Enthoo Evolv TG). So either straight up some pumps which can be good or just telling me what kind of specs I need (and why cause that way I learn something) would be much appreciated.

2: Coolant:

I see many bottles of stuff claiming to be special and blah blah, all makes my bullshit detectors thingle a bit. I believe just plain distilled water + a silver kill coil should do the trick right? I don't want a fancy colour for the liquid cause I will have plenty of RGB to around (I could not resist 32GB of that amazing looking Trident RGB memory for exmaple and I am planning to use the phanteks blocks which also have RGB) :)

Thanks in advance and a build log will start likely Saturday as the first bits come in :)

Always get D5 pump :)

And no, a premixed coolant is better because there is no solver to react with any of the metals in your loop, and they use better anticorrosives and biocides.

The EK cryofuel or mayhems coolants are good, but when you pick one you should stick with it and not switch or mix.

1. Just get a D5 with a custom top from someone like EKWB, Bitspower etc. Can't really go wrong with a D5 and it will easily cope with that loop.

2. There's a load of BS with coolants. I'd personally go with one of the clear coolants from Mayhems or some other reputable brand. They have additives mixed in to stop algae growth

D5 pump, and if you want your liquid to colour match, just grab some hoses in your preferred colour. What I thought was confusing when I started learning about water cooling was the diameters of tubing and fittings, so be aware of that.

Mayhems it seems than for the cooling, clear with all the stuff added that needs to be in there and well at 30eur for 5l that aint to bad. (Bit much, but hey it is either 5l or 1l to order).

Pump wise I guess I will pick one once I know the routing and possibilities, thanks will just pick a D5 from EKWB.

I've been rocking a Danger Den CPX-Pro basically forever.  It's hilarious overkill and is basically an aquarium pump.

Coolant I've always run either 25% automotive antifreeze/75% distilled with a kill coil, or more recently ~50% Propylene Glycol/50% distilled water with kill coil in the res.

SFF-ish:  Ryzen 5 1600X, Asrock AB350M Pro4, 16GB Corsair LPX 3200, Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro -75mV, 512gb Plextor Nvme m.2, 512gb Sandisk SATA m.2, Cryorig H7, stuffed into an Inwin 301 with rgb front panel mod.  LG27UD58.

Aging Workhorse:  Phenom II X6 1090T Black (4GHz #Yolo), 16GB Corsair XMS 1333, RX 470 Red Devil 4gb (Sold for $330 to Cryptominers), HD6850 1gb, Hilariously overkill Asus Crosshair V, 240gb Sandisk SSD Plus, 4TB's worth of mechanical drives, and a bunch of water/glycol.  Coming soon:  Bykski CPU block, whatever cheap Polaris 10 GPU I can get once miners start unloading them.

MintyFreshMedia:  Thinkserver TS130 with i3-3220, 4gb ecc ram, 120GB Toshiba/OCZ SSD booting Linux Mint XFCE, 2TB Hitachi Ultrastar.  In Progress:  3D printed drive mounts, 4 2TB ultrastars in RAID 5.
