I am new to the mechanical keyboard world and unfortunately I can not go and test any keyboards. I am a really speedy typer and need a keyboard with a number pad. It wouldn't bother me to have the insert, home, page up, page down and arrow keys removed. I am also a touch typist. Any suggestions on switch types and keyboards? Not willing to spend more then 180 US dollars though.

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

Right now I am using a corsair k70 red switch keyboard it is great for typing if you just lightly tap the keys. Also it is very well built and is great for gaming.

I also have this, love it... the brushed aluminium finish is however... hard to keep clean :P

You're looking to spend about $80+ on a keyboard, so deciding what switch you want for like $5 more is virtually nothing.

MX Blue for faster typing? Nobody can say this with any certainty as switch preference depends on the typist, some do better with Blue, some Brown, some Red and so forth. OP really ought to get a switch sampler kit to try out, and decide which switch type suits him best before even considering which board to look at....btw, I'm typing this post with a Leopold FC660M Clear and I feel I'm faster with Clear than with Blue.

True, I like my blues but everyone has their own preference.

I was going to get a sampler kit however im not sure how testing one switch at a time will help me decide when I'm using full hands to type.

I started out in Mechanical land with a Corsair K60 Cherry MX Red. I enjoyed it a lot and is a good starting point, as Reds are linear, so it feels like youre typing on clouds.

From there, you can go to an MX brown or Blue switch if you prefer, but whatever you do, don't go for the MX greens or Blacks, they feel really slumpy and unrewarding to the touch.

LOOK AT MY TUBE, MY TUBE IS AMAZING. DONT LICK IT IT DOESN'T TASTE LIKE ANYTHING. IT DOESN'T HAVE A MANE OR PENIS EITHER. SHUT UP.

There's such a thing as personal preference, I started out with Red, moved to Blue and Brown, now, my fave switches are Green, Black and Clear. I'd choose an MX Black/Green/Clear keyboard over the usual Blue/Brown/Red anytime, anywhere....

Ok thanks I appreciate the suggestions it sounds like my best option would be to buy a sampler kit, and when I do purchase a keyboard, make sure it has a good return policy. Bit of random question but does anyone know if the apple keyboards have mechanical switches? I want to settle the dispute between me and my brother.

I personally like MX Blues. But as other people said, it's all preference, so I suggest buying a sampler kit.
