Dell inspiron 7000 gaming for 3D rendering?

Go to solution Solved by DocSwag,

Seems like a good choice. He might wanna consider getting an ssd and/or adding another stick of ram :)

A buddy of mine is going to college and needs a laptop with a dedicated gpu for rendering. I think I'm gonna recommend him The dell inspiron 7000 gaming, because he also wants to mess with pc gaming. The one with the i7 and the 1050 ti. ( http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/inspiron-15-7567-laptop/fncwf512s )

Is this a good choice?

For gaming definetly. For rendering not sure, I think it will handle.

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

It can be great, however I would make sure you're getting the IPS screen in this model and not the stock/default/original low-quality TN, because it looks like the image at the bottom of this post.

I would either pick the IPS option on the config page, or -- if budget is limited and you don't have a plan in place to DIY-replace the screen, get the 7300HQ model in order to fit IPS into the budget. 7300HQ is already pretty good; LQTN screen not so much. Seek to improve upon something that's pretty bad, before something that's already pretty good. It will produce a more noticeable difference throughout more of the computer use.

These ones have 7300HQ + SSD + 1050 TI + IPS:
