I'm currently running a 1060 (6GB) and a 6700k but I've decided that I'm going to upgrade to a 1700 and a 1080Ti so I can stream and produce content in 1080p at 144Hz, but I need a final suggestion on my RAM.

Should I spend the extra $80 on compatible RAM (FlareX) or just wing it with the $135 Corsair LPX 3200MHz kit. I just built a Ryzen system for a friend and I could only get this kit running at 2667.

Thanks!

I would recommend you get the corsair 3000 MHz cl15 kit. It's guaranteed to work at 2933 MHz on that board.

Sweet, thanks so much for the info.

The 3200 kit is just $10 more, do you think they'll add more compatibility in the future thus making it a good upgrade?

Probably, though I've heard of a lot of boards having weird issues (I've heard of storage performance slowing down significantly, for example) when you run 3200 MHz on Ryzen. At the same time though amd is pushing an update soon that will probably fix that.

Up to you really, I don't think 2933 to 3200 is that much of a performance jump but it's also only $10 more. I'd guess that in the future there won't be issues with 3200 so it'll be just a frequency difference. Now I'm rambling :P

Yeah me too, my friend uses 3200MHz RAM I think in a X370 GAMING PRO carbon and still updating the AGESA Updates all along

Could you ramble on one more topic real quick?

I plan to order a 1700 (3.9GHz) from SiliconLottery, do you think I should buy the board that they successfully stabilized the chip on (Asus Crosshair VI Hero) or do you think I'd be fine sticking with the board I've selected. I just to avoid all possible compatibility issues (as I've ran into many with a current Ryzen build I'm working on).

Thanks Doc!

If you have the money to buy crosshair go for it

Money isn't the issue, I was just always under the assumptions that as long as it's a decent mobo I'd be fine.

On the other hand I know it's a great board, I'll look into it. Thanks!

You should be totally fine. The extra vrms of the CH6 shouldn't make it OC any better than the prime pro really.
