if you never downloaded them before your gonna want to go on nexus and just spend a day looking and downloading and trying them out making sure they are compatible,

modding hevly can take time and the more you look the more mods  youll find that are small but worth it like the higher res money mod and stuff like that,

otherwise the top 100 or so mods on nexus are ones id mostly use, I have over 135 mods running on my current save

download the unofficial patches first

I suggest starting out with mod organiser so that you keep a clean skyrim directory. Mods can interfere with each other so you can spend days getting everything set up, overwrite something, find a bug/glitch/crash and have no idea why, and have to remove everything or re-download/install mods.

Mod organiser allows you to enable and disable mods pretty easily without anything overwriting each other (it operates a virtual file system)

You may want to look at STEP as a start to mods as some people have compiled an up-to-date list of mods which improve the game and gives the best install/load order for them too. (order is very important)

Aragorn (WS): 250D | 6800k | 840 Pro 512GB | Intel 530 480GB  | Asus X99-M WS | 64GB DDR4 | Corsair HX720i | GTX 1070 | Corsair H115i | Philips BDM4350UC 43" 3840x2160 IPS

Gimli (server):  Node 304 | G4560 | ADATA XPG SX8000 128GB | 2x 5TB WD Red | ASROCK H270M-ITX/AC  | 8GB DDR4 | Seasonic 400FL

 Omega (server):                 Fractal Arc Mini R2 | i3 4130 | 500GB Maxtor | 2TB WD Red : Raid 1 | 3TB Seagate Barracuda | 16GB RAM | Seasonic G-450w
Alpha (WS): 900D | 4770k | GTX 780  | 840 Pro 512GB  | GA-Z87X-OC | Corsair RM 850 | 24GB 2400mhz | Samsung S27B970D 2560x1440

There are category in nexus mods.

But personally if ur pc has the power i would use visual mods first like ENB to enhance the environment and overhaul mods.

And then i will mod the textures, items, animation, etc

okay thanks

At the very least i suggest the unofficial patches, skse and skyUI. Then you can look at texture mods such as vurt's trees one and some of the mods under the TOP mods category.

Oh yeah, delete your documents/games/skyrim/skyrim.ini too and probably back up/rename your saves folder and start from the beginning. Any old saves with other mods (mainly quest mods, or mods which use quests to track state) will likely be dirty and cause stability issues.

Yeah start fresh. reduces the chance of any issues. It's up to you if you want to use the special edition or not. I really doesn't look much different but it is more stable. That said the main downside is that the mods are lacking since most of them had to get re-made. There is also no SKSE yet since the current 32bit version is incompatible. That's what exposes a lot of new APIs for modders to write more complex scripts with.

I use the normal one but the special edition is 64 bit so its better for modding, there is no diffrence so id use special editions as long as it has all the same mods updated for it,

i've only modded on the normal version so I cant tell you. I never used special edition becase of all my progress in the normal version

The original one. The majority of my mods won't work on the special edition (especially skyUI because of the lack of SKSE)

Added my mods. I couldn't even fit them all on the screen when i made my 4k monitor portrait...

On my current save, i pressed continue and it took 19 seconds to load. (I'm using the "Aragorn" computer in my sig and it's installed on the 840 pro.

I used to use ENB when I was on 2560x1440, but since upgrading to a 4K screen, i could only get about 30FPS. Once i disabled that, I get around 50-60FPS at 4K now.

SKSE64 Update - 03 April 2017

Skyrim Special Edition has been released, and the original SKSE will not work with it. We are creating SKSE64 for the new 64-bit Special Edition. We appreciate your patience while work continues. Currently we don't have a estimated time frame for a beta release of SKSE64. Above is our latest video update.
