Hey all,

I've been a lurker on the forums for some time. I've finally saved up the money to put together a new computer that can finally run newer games and smooth playable settings. The way we want to play games. So I decided to also finally make an account and get some help in the building process.

I've put together a list of parts myself but also wanted to consult the internet for feedback and other suggestions: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gTnfcc

Other notes:

1. Budget & Location

Budget: ~$2000 US

2. Aim

Mostly gaming - daily games include League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and Overwatch. But I do dive into new AAA titles as well. I wanted to build a rig that could also allow for me to stream on occasion. My computer is also my main form of entertainment.

3. Monitors

1 Monitor at 1440p. Plan to keep my current monitor (don't even know the resolution at this point its so old) as a second monitor.

4. Peripherals

Only need a fresh Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

My current setup is from 6 years ago, built it my freshman year of college. Was on a tight budget, so I built a lower end computer thats lasted me till now but barely helping me get by. Struggle to play anything outside of my daily dose of League of Legends.

Thanks for any help, suggestions, and feedback!

Get the EVGA Supernova G3 instead of the Supernova NEX.

If you want to OC your CPU I would recommend getting a mainboard with better VRM because your CPU of choice has 8 cores.

I don't know how good the Kraken X42 performs but I would recommend getting something with a 240 or 280 radiator.

Thanks for the quick feedback, ZM Fong & Graytech!

My responses:

- I'll look into dropping AIO for an aircooler, will help save some money as well. Always a plus.

- I have a HDD in my current pc that I'll carry over.

- Will swap out PSU.

- Recommendations on different motherboard? This is one area PC building that I'm not very knowledgable on.

Here is a slightly altered spec with an EVGA G3 psu.

The MSI gpu is slightly cheaper and is red/black. The Gigabyte board is also mainly red/black. Cheaper air cooler which is pretty decent. There are other Cryorig coolers depending on what you want. The H5 Universal will allow 100% ram clearance as well.

You will need an AM4 bracket from Cryorig -  http://www.cryorig.com/getam4.php

Look for mobo with good VRM phase count and good VRM cooling. Asrock Fata1ty AB350 Gaming K4 is one of the examples.

After some more researching and debating this is where i've landed on a build:

The foreseeable upgrade I would do would be the 1070, but from what I've read and seen it looks like the 1070 is a nice sweet spot for 1440p especially if the monitor has gsync.
