Posted May 21, 2017 I recently got a second GTX 1080 but as i have a 1080p monitor neither of the cards max out (sometimes they go to high 80 and maybe 90 something). I want to get a new monitor to replace my 1080p one but i don't know whether i should get a 1440p one or a 4k one. What would you suggest. I also want it to be above 60hz if possible as i am use to the 144hz of my current monitor. Posted May 21, 2017 Well if you want to have more than 60fps I guess you are aiming for 120 or 144Hz monitor. 4K at 120Hz ... it will cost you a fortune, and 2x GTX 1080 won't be able to handle that. Your best bet would be 1440p 144Hz G-sync monitor. Not that cheap, but it's a solid choice. Yes If you wanted G-Sync (which I recommend), then either the Dell S2417DG or Dell S2716DG would be a good choice. If you can stretch an extra 40£ I would recommend the S2716DG though, the extra 3 inches make a lot of difference. Or of course you could buy either use from a reputable reseller. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01KZIOSSQ/?tag=pcp0f-21 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-S2716DG-27-Inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01784K78A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1495397974&sr=8-1&keywords=S2716DG One thing to keep in mind is DSR. Using DSR to downsample from 4k or 5k will give the second GTX1080 more room to do its job. SLI GTX1080 tends to scale better at 4k or higher than 1440p. Also, the cool thing about DSR is it will allow you to run any downsampled resolution at 144Hz, so you're not really sacrificing anything. Posted May 22, 2017 Also depends on the games you wanna run, keep that in mind. As an example I can run Squad at 80fps min in 1440p or Insurgency at 144fps min in 1440p. Very different demand's! Squad is effectively CPU bound. All things considered, for a wide range of everything I would go 144Hz, 1440p, 27 monitor or ultra wide if that's your preference and you will have a great gaming experience from all angles. I can't say I have any experience with AOC, but the reviews around the web for that monitor are fairly unanimous. It definitely seems like a decent monitor, so if you're ok with a 24 inch, then yeah.
