Hello everyone i am going to be building this pc https://pcpartpicker.com/list/khzWLD In the up incoming weeks. I was wondering if this is a good build for streaming games on twitch. i plan on overclocking the 1700 as well as everything else. I have seen some benchmarks and the performance looks promising just asking for others opinions since i'm new to these things

Yup, it'll be perfect for streaming. I have a similar build (stock R7 1700 and RX 480) and the streaming quality is impressive.

If you'll be using OBS, don't set the CPU Usage Preset below medium for x264 encoding and don't rescale the output and you'll be set.

I actually did some test streams on Twitch using different settings in OBS if you want me to link to some short VODs.

Ok thanks for the advice!

850 Evo isn't worth the money for just a boot drive IMO.

I'm also building a computer for my little brother, he wants to play games like gta, overwatch, and bf1 at max settings and stream. i went with this build do you think this will work fine? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PMzWLD

It will work but he might have to raise the CPU Usage Presets to something higher than medium. Basically start at Medium then kick off a stream and watch OBS when you start playing a game, if you get the "overloaded" message in the bottom left then stop the stream and raise the preset by one, keep doing this until that message stops appearing.

With the 1700 I've never seen any CPU cores maxed out, I expected at least the first CPU to be pegged at 100% but the usage was between 20-50% depending on the core/thread in all of the games I tried (Fallout: NV, Deus Ex: MD, Ghost in the Shell, Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator, Pay Day 2, and HoTS). I think the 6 cores in the 1600 will work just fine.

it'll work well. imo cut the case to the GRAM and get a good cpu cooler, then he can overclock it for better performance.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

For ssd change to to 850 evo

Is there anything wrong with SL308? Almost identical performance with 850 EVO at much less money
