i have a really dumb question but to me its pretty hard, how do i install windows 10 for free on a fresh build?

I dont think you can. You get to update to windows 10 from Windows 7 for a amount of time when it came out I think but not anymore.

Download Windows 10 iso from Microsoft website on another computer, burn it to USB using Rufus and install by booting from USB.

for what do you need rufus?

the windows download tool already makes you an usb install stick

Yes yes, I know that. I opted ISO option for future. Windows download tool makes USB for once and as far as I know once it gets formatted you have to download whole Windows 10 again. So what I did is I download ISO and make USB install stick so that I can keep ISO safe.

You can't fork out a few bucks for a piece of software you use on a daily basis for many years to come? That's pretty damn cheap if you ask me.

 

Of course you can just use the Media Creation Tool and install Windows, never activate it and live with the limitations. But still, rather pathetic.

I'd highly reccomend buying it its completely worth it retail or pro it allows full acces to desktop apps x64/hyper-v aswell as Bitlocker and Local Policy Editory and more

You can not get Windows Activated for free legally,though you can download the media and install Windows for free.

A cheep solution would be a OEM windows 10,8.1,7 license,maybe even Windows 8.
