So I have one Rx 470 8gb running stock but I have yet to enjoy its full potential cause of CPU bottlenecking . I have seen many videos showing dual 470s and dual 480s reaching performance up to even gtx 1070. So should I get a brand new 580 in the future and pair it with my current 470 . with some oc they should be as powerful as a 1070 right? For an upgrade 200-250 euros to get performance of over 500dollars? I have heard of crossfire presenting stuttering and other issues is that a problem?

AS far as i know AMD supports Xfire only in same series, so a 4xx+4xx or 5xx+5xx

BUT what would be interesting about this is if you flash your 470 to a 570 bios and pair it with a 580 would it run, in theory it should :/

I'm also keen to do a twin 470 Setup :)

But 1070 is 400, not 500?

Hell, some can go for as low as 300-350

crossfire doesn't work great in all games

But 580s and 570s aren't overpriced?

for twin 470's you will sit almost on par with a 1070 loosing in some games and beating in others but it will all be by a tiny bit and in other games you'll sit a fair bit before it. So if two 470's cost any where near $450 its rather more worth it to get the 1070. I love my little 470, but I accept its not a destroyer of worlds :(

However I already have a 470 which means that by getting a 1070 the 470 I have would go to waste as I only have one going rig.so is it not worth it getting an upgrade of 250$ rather than 500 for the same results?

There was a video I saw on youtube of a guy crossfiring a 480 with a 580 and it works.  Of course the 580 downclocks to the same speed as the 480.  In theory a 470 and a 580 should work together, but I have no proof of that particular combo working.  Both cards would run at the same settings as a 470, so it would be equal to 2 470's in crossfire.  And for games that dont play well with crossfire you would have the 580 for single gpu use.

Now the more interesting situation is with the new explicit multi gpu thing that is built into dx12 and vulkan.  It lets you use any two cards from any manufacturers to run the game.  So you could run a 1060 and a 480 together.   I think the only game it works with right now is ashes of the singularity though.  But if it is the way of the future then things look good for gaming on a budget.

to be honest, for honor is a poor example of a AAA game its more of a money grab, tomb raider has sli stuttering( vary poorly implemented).

So do the 2 GPUs need to be running same speeds? Better worth getting a same 470/570 I have heard that 570s are power efficient and kinda more stable so with a 200 upgrade I can boost my system to 1070 performance right?over clocking will also help a lot.also one question if I want a crossfire config what do my pcie ports on the mobo need to be?

EDIT What about stuttering will that affect future games?

What CPU could possibly bottleneck a card like rx 470?

If your CPU bottlenecks the rx 470, getting 2 of them won't help with the bottlenecking lol

CPU: Ryzen 2 2700@ 4.0Ghz    Mobo: Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 Wifi    Cooler: EVGA CLC 240    GPU: GTX1080 FTW DT @ 2113Mhz   PSU: EVGA 750W P2

Well duh of cource i am talking after another upgrade about to happen.my CPU is an a10 5800k and it bottlenecks and I will upgrade to ryzen 1600.

. Also my selected mobo   has one pcie 16x 2.0 and one 16x 3.0 it says it can run crossfirex but will the 2.0 slot have any performance backdraws?
