graphics card cable

hi,,,

i'm new to pc building world,,,my PSU is corsair HX 1200i and my graphics card is asus 1080 ti founders edition,,,

the PCIE cables have 8 pin on the PSU end and two 6+2 pin on the graphics card end,,,the graphics card has one 8 pin and one 6 pin connector...

my question is should i connect the graphics card 8 pin and 6 pin from one cable or i'd better use another PCIE cable from PSU for the 6 pin connector and let the second head of first cable hanging useless?
