Getting back into gaming

I went on a two-and-a-half year long "break" from gaming because my interests changed and education took over. Spent a lot of time getting into good shape and appreciating music, made a YouTube channel, been editing videos, education, watching loads more movies, so gaming has kinda been forgotten about.

 

Recently, I realised I needed to make more upgrades because my PSU, case, storage and RAM were either lacking or really OOD. Even my CPU and GPU are dated. Looking at components and benchmarks makes me feel nostalgic about PC gaming again. I even found an old parts list I put together for my first PC on another computer and I had no idea how far along PC gaming has come. I was baffled when I'd read that there were 7xxx series Intel CPUs.

 

I'm buying a GTX 1070 in about two weeks and I was wondering what new games I should get into seeing as I've been sinking all my time into just Garry's Mod and Black Ops 2.

I'd definitely recommend Hitman 2016. It's a crazy well made game, imo the best in the Hitman franchise by far, and now you can pick up all the episodes at once!

Overwatch is super fun as always.

Just Cause 3 was a great time, many explosions.

Life is Strange is always worth playing; it's more like a good book than a game tbh.

Oh, Rainbow Six: Siege is super popular now, definitely recommend picking it up if you like that kind of game.

Watch Dogs 2 was surprisingly pretty good. Once you get past the first 2 hours, it really picks up, turning away from the cringe-inducing dialogue, and instead developing the story.

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst is one of my favorites; the graphics are fantastic, and the parkour mechanics are super solid.

Play Overwatch (can be bought for around 20 to 30 euros if you do not get collectors edition), Dishonored 2 (there is a demo with first 3 missions for free) and try the quake (open?) beta now when you can (free).

Wow. I still remember being disappointed by my R9 290, because I still have it. Are you telling me they've made a CPU that won't overheat and explode, nor will it struggle to run Shogun 2 at zero frames per second?

65W TDP, the 6900K is 140W.
