Greetings...

1. Budget & Location

Budget is open...looking at extreme and high end builds if that helps....I am located in Mount Airy MD USA

2. Aim

Computer will be used for gaming and I want to be blown away....play a number of games from World of Warships, Star Trek Online and a number of first person shooters, Running Adobe suite of products and working in Photoshop, Audition and other applications. This is also the computer I use day to day...so include web browsing etc. Thinking about getting into some CAD and 3D modeling. I have also been using ASUS MB's in my last 3 builds. I currently have a ASUS Rampage Extreme V with an Intel i7 5820K XPU at 3.3Ghz, Memory currently is G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series 64GB (8 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM 2400 and I can either reuse or use something better....I am also considering liquid cooling...but that is also an option. Overclocking....good question....as it would seem logical it is not really a priority. A little bit is fine...but not at the cost of stability.

3. Monitors

Currently running 3 monitors - looking to change the outboards to something that will better compliment the center (X34). So I want to 1440 on either end (even considered 3 X34's but in the end think 27's or 28's would be better...as long as the match up to the center one. I am currently using 2 EVGA GTX1080's in SLI.

4. Peripherals

So I am set with the keyboard and mouse. I am using a Sound Blaster ZxR card as want great audio. If I have to loose that in order to go to 3 SLI so be it.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Simply....because I can. Besides that I want to update my wife's machine so I will build hers with left over pieces and parts from this upgrade. Thanks for the input (hopefully)!!!

OP said he was willing to change RAM, could go for a 4x16GB kit on an x370 board

I have an idea, CROSSHAIR and Ryzen 7 1700. I am looking if he needs monitor or not

A 1700 would be a sidegrade from a 5820K. I say XPOWER Titanium x370 and 1800x. He's upgrading because he can.

Thanks for the replies so far....Monitors are not an issue either. I am running a X34 center and just got 2 Acer XB1 (1440) G-Syncs on the out board that way I can keep the 1440 across all three.....I see a number of replies discussing AMD's new chip....still not sure if I want to leave Intel but would consider it.

1700 and 1800x both are on par just one costs $200 more about and comes with a higher out the box oc pretty much. Both chips oc to 4 ghz most time and even 4.1ghz havnt heard anyone going over 4.1 tho. Also he could just Yolo it on a i7 6950x cpu or something as his mobo would support it. And pascal only supports 2 way sli so I wouldn't do anything over that. Keep the ram and mobo get 2 gtx 1080ti's and if you have 1700 to spend on a cpu get the i7 6950x or wait a few months for the i9s to come out and the x299 platform. Water loops will be around $1000-2000 depends on how many rads what all you are cooling pump size duel pump or not and fans.

Is GTX 1070 still worth until May 27?

Depends what you are doing such as games and resolutions and how high of frames you want to see just Google some reviews and If it gives the fps at the resolutions you want and is in your price range go for it. Vega should be coming out sometime this summer tho but who knows it was suppose to come out this month kinda dispointed in that maybe they relied ryzen had shit bios's so they are takin there time to make good drivers for vega. Also Volta might be just around the conner as the Volta tesla card or wtv came out a few weeks ago and just a few days ago people are saying some navida inter might of leaked a picture of a vega titan when he was showing off his rig so who knows when any the new cards are coming out it really depends on if you want to play the waiting game for better price to profmace or would you rather have it said and done.
