High idle clock speeds with 3 monitor setup?

Hi guys just wanted to ask if this is natural/common. I have a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X and got 3 monitor hooked up on it which are an Asus VC239H, PG248Q, and an old 19" HP compaq monitor. I mostly use the Asus ones and use only my 19" when I am doing school works(i.e: doing handwritten reports) cause the space where i have ample space or no clutters is where it is positioned. So when I have all 3 monitors hooked up my idle clocks speed is around 1600MHz  but when i unplug the 19" it goes down to 215MHz. Is this natural that it would go up that high when 3 monitors are plugged in?

You are putting more stress on the GPU so expect the idle clocks to be slightly higher.

I see, so even with it being at idle and not doing anything just by plugging another monitor would stress it more? (Question might sound sarcastic but it is not).

You could have prefer maximum performance enabled in the Nvidia control panel.

Under what tab is it on the Nvidia control panel?

Right click and you should see 'Nvidia Control Panel' listed.

To change this setting, with your mouse, right-click over the Windows desktop and select "NVIDIAControl Panel" -> from the NVIDIA Control Panel, select the "Manage 3D settings" from the left column -> click on the Power management mode drop down box

Think it's a bug in the drivers this year. I've always ran 3 monitors. But since I had update divers for bf1 coming out I've had the same issue. 

 

My memory would stay at 3000mhz which on air would cause my cards to idle at 60c. My fan profile always has the fans at max when they get that hot as I've done for years. It's gotta be a bug.

Everyone will tel you it's more stress on the gpu or whatever but truth is a few years ago I had a 144hz 1440p, 4K 60fps, and a 60fps 1080p monitor all dsr to 4K 

and my 980ti idled at 135mhz 

 

so it is a driver bug that nvdia need to sort out

My GPU is the same on my 3x 144hz monitors. The temps are like 55oc idle because of it. Nothing you can do if you want 144hz.

Enabling multi-display power saver within Nvidia Inspector should help cut down on those frequencies.

Thanks for this. Got it all set up and games added. Idle temps are back down> I can go back to air cooling now with this.
