XEON E3-1231 V3 vs i5 4460

Hello guys! 

 

I am looking to upgrade my i5 4460 to a Xeon E3-1231 with a RX 580 8GB or 1060 6GB any bottlenecks with Xeon? If there is a bottleneck and I cannot play AAA games 60fps on High-ultra I may buy the Ryzen 5 1600 with new ram and a brand new mobo (which is annoying and expensive)

Well it's +500 mhz and HT. So in games like Watch Dogs 2 it will substantially boost fps. But it's a sidegrade, true.

If new then yes, 1600 or 1600x would offer much better value, if your current CPU is not sufficing.

I would rather you spent the money towards a GTX 1070 if you are thinking of upgrades or wait for Vega if your monitor is Freesync .

That website is useless. "Upgrading" to Kaby-lake would be even more of a sidegrade.

Where I live the grand total of MOBO, CPU and ram is $1021

If I get a i5 4460 and a RX 580 I only get 56-60fps on recents games.. bottleneck? I watched a youtube video.

Battlefield 1 and 1080p monitor. With the Ryzen 5 1600 im supposed to get over 70 fps and I want that frame rate.

Which youtube video...

 

4460 and RX-580 aren't the best combination. The 4460 is rather slow by today's standards. I couldn't get a nice experience with the 480 coupled with a 4670K. Only when overclocking and with very fast memory could some resemblance of decent framepacing be achieved in modern titles.

 

If you're looking to stay on the current platform, just get the 1060. If whatever GPU you're using now isn't adequate.

I've got right a i5 4460, 16GB RAM so I want be able to get a run a RX 480 nicely either? If so im going to swap out my mobo. = $1000

Well yes, buying a new PC is more expensive. Just get the 1060 tbh. I'd strongly advise against 4460+580.

1060 would be better? How can I play games on it?Like what fps and settings on games like Battlefield 1 and Farcry Primal cause Im concerned since my cpu is a i5 4460. I might invest $1000 on new motherboard, cpu and gpu.

Honestly I can't give you any guarantees. My 4670K is struggling aswell in some games, see my signature. Usually settings like Geometry and Phsyics cut down on CPU usage.
