I am currently running a 4.5Ghz O/c mostly stable on my xeon X5660 and was wondering if anybody got higher (even if you have x5650, x5690, i7 980, etc)? I also was wondering if anybody had a better price to performance rig than mine? Specs and costs for everything listed below.

ASUS X58 Sabertooth: $107

X5660: $30

22GB Ram: $78.64
600W evga 80+ PSU: $28.97

Corsair h100i GTX: $65

EVGA gtx 970 SC: $108

Funny as it is, all of these prices are exact to the penny... haha.

I will not be including case price for certain reasons... You don't have to in yours either.

TOTAL: $417.61

we'll base it on cinebench single core, multicore per USD, and openGL benchmarks

Results are 2.5095cb per 1 USD (1048cb total) and 138cb single core, and 104.29 fps in openGL.

Depends on your definition of P2P, maybe a benchmark score divided by $$??

I bought it "broken" (literally needed CMOS reset and was good to go)

I hate you so much right now. And yet I love you all the same. Could I convince you to sell for $108? :D

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

You drive a hard bargain. I'll raise my price to $109, but you'll have to help me out with shipping :D

I also got a good deal on a x58 bundle. I paid 213 usd including shipping for this: i7 980X cpu, Asus p6x58d premium motherboard, noctua nh-d14 cpu cooler and 12 gb of corsair vengaence memory triple channel.

Sold old parts for 132 usd bundle contained: i7 920, asus rampage 2 extreme motherboard, thermalright ultra 120 extreme cpu cooler and 12 gb corsair xms3 triple channel memory.

But here is the fun fact. Try and see what and i7 980x cost alone on ebay or something like that. If i sell i7 980x and got one of those cheap ass xeon i cut end up getting a xeon an still have a good amount of money left. That would litterly have been a steal then or what?

But i chose to keep i7 980x cause well i feel it is just a bit more nice to have that i7 than a xeon. Dont get me wrong those xeon are awesome cause of there low price and they tend to overclock great.

I was given a free Sabertooth X58, used in the box by a friend. My X5680 was $109.78. I love my machine.

@Intelfreak I "upgraded" from an i7 2600 mainly because i wanted the bragging rights of having an OC'd Xeon. It's kinda cool having an underdog and OC'ing a CPU the majority of PC enthusiasts believe you cannot OC. Having a Xeon just sounds more impressive than a 1st gen i7.

Black Knight-

Ryzen 5 5600, GIGABYTE B550M DS3H, 16Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz, Asrock RX 6800 XT Phantom Gaming,

MSI B450 A Pro, Ryzen 5 3600x, 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz, Silicon Power A55 512GB SSD, Gigabyte RX 5700 Gaming OC, Corsair CX430

haha, I saw a broken i7 980 on ebay for $30 and I wanted to see if I could get it to work because the symptoms were looking like motherboard issues, offered $20 and he accepted... it worked! I then sold it for $160 for profits, bought an x5660 for $30 and got similar overclocks to the 980 :D
