So my client has a $800 budget and I'm undecided between the two builds. I made these quickly as I have to go somewhere important and want the community's input as some of these parts may be incompatible or perhaps bottleneck the performance?

Don't forget about shipping.

How do you think will it perform for Battlefield 4? Like regarding temperature and 1080p performance at ultra settings? He plans to play that alot.

it will not run on ultra maybe high/ medium but it will be at like 30- fps on ultra

Ah ok that seems good enough, I'll just tell him to run it at high settings. Regarding the motherboard and memory are those two compatible, would I have to do some configuration in the BIOS so that it will run at 2133MHz?

Sure BF4 will have some benefits with using higher frequency RAM, BUT the AM3+ socket CPUs only officially support up to 1866MHz. Personally, I'd go with a 1866MHz or 1600MHz kit with standard / decent timings.

If you are totally set with the 2133MHz kit, there may be a XMP profile for it. If not, you need to set the timings and voltages manually in the BIOS, under the DRAM timings section.

(That GSkill 2133MHz kit with 11-11-11-30-2T timings is pretty friggin' loose)

EDIT: Ahh...WTF, all the 8GB (4GB X 2) kits are all $99.00 regardless of the speed and brand...stick with the 2133MHz kit...and see if you can run it at 2133MHz. If not, drop them down to 1866MHz / 1600MHz and tighten (reduce) the timings.

Yes, but it's considered an overclock so you are not 100% guaranteed the memory will run at those speeds.

I'm kinda skeptical about the motherboard SATA interface and the powersupply because he wants to be able to do some upgrades in the future. Other than that I liked the rest.

Unless he's adding a bunch of hdd's the psu will be sufficient for any decent upgrades.

What do you mean by being skeptical about the sata interface?

I mean he was thinking of getting an SSD in the future and the SATA II might slow down the R/W of the SSD?

What's make a ssd feel fast is the random read speed and random access time. Sata II won't bottleneck those at all.

Ah, I never knew that thanks for the info. I'll think about changing some of the parts because he likes the 270X, newer technology and wouldn't mantle + OC'ing improve BF4's performance?

Mantle should but it would also apply to the 7950.

I was reading some articles/forum topics about the 7950 how OC'ing it becomes equivalent to a 7970 so I'm leaning towards recommending it now.

The average oc'ed 7950 will beat the 7970 at stock. Then again, the 7970 can be oc'ed as well.
