silent yet powerful air cooling for cpu

Go to solution Solved by TechguyES,

Thanks for all the replies guys, I tested my cpu and under load it stay's below around 78 degrees. I guess I will hold off buying an aftermarket cooler

So I have  a 6500 on a  Z170 HD3P gigabyte mobo. Usually I run Nox (android emulator) in the background, which takes atleast 20% of my cpu, which on idle is around 5-10% while browsing chrome. And now with the bit hotter weather coming, my cpu goes all the way to 50 degrees, when reaching around 50% utilizations, since I also have other programmer stuff going on. So in short, I'm looking for a silent yet atleast medium cooling capabilities.

Silence above performance (atleast better than the intel stock cooler).

I have a midtower case (spec-02) so space is not a problem. I would like to not spend more than 50 euros max. I think an AIO would be too expensive and also over the top.

Thanks like always

Has you run a stress test to see what you CPU maxes out at?

The 6500 is a non overclockable CPU. If under full load you are not hitting above 80c then you don't need a new cooler.

I get what you mean. But I don't think having my cpu almost 10 hours a day on 50+ degrees would be a good idea.

Dark Rock 3 ... that's the one I bought. I didn't mount it yet, since I'm waiting for my new case.

But I did plug that 4 pin to motherboard and test how loud it is ... pretty darn quiet. Even at high fan speed it's hard to hear it from 30cm away with open case.

A CPU can run fine at anything 80c or below. It won't do any damage to your CPU. So as long as under full load your CPU doesn't get over 80c you are fine.

How 'bout a Thermalright Le Grand Macho cooler? That big-ass cooler can be ran passive on something like the i5-6500, provided you have sufficient case airflow already. The cooler also includes a fan if you want to use one.
