my build. again.

I recently lost my job, and could not build my computer, as I had planned before (I have many posts on this subject, simply to get more out of the system). that being said, I recently also got a new job! that pays more! and I would like to build a computer similar to this

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RZ4T7h

this is the build, it may show up as canadian, I dont know why, pcpartpicker thinks im from up north. im not. go to usa for pricing.

im just curious about the build, and i am waffling between a 1080 and a 1080 ti. im going with 3440x1440 monitor, and want decent refresh rates.

thank you for looking, and thanks for any help!

was going to ask why skylake, but saw you purchased it. 1080Ti would be my best bet if you want max performance, but if you wan to stay lower in cost than a 1080.

You could save a bit of money and get the vengence rgb ram and stick with the 1080ti if in your budget. Also maybe think of picking up a hdd for more storage. Good build overall. Also congrats on the new job :)

Edit: I see a lot of people pointing out the powersupply. Evga G2 is a good line to look into.

Unsure what power supply to pick?

Check out my HTPC build.

What is the purpose of this build? Just gaming?

Although it varies from game to game, at 3440x1440 100Hz you typically want all the GPU power you can get. So I suggest you stick with the GTX 1080Ti.

I'd also change the power supply since EVGA's NEX/G1 series is mediocre at best. Grab the EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G3 for a bit more.

I'd also grab a HDD if you don't already have one since having one for mass storage would be ideal.

im hopeing to stay above 60 fps at all times, and have some games like doom and other highly graphics optimized games to run closer to 100, and saw that doom tends to run at 100 fps on the 1080 at 16:9 1440, so im assuming the ti will do the same at 21:9

for the most part, yes, gaming, and the power supply is something i will look into, but i have to ask, what is bad about the power supply? also, the hdd will be bought once i run out of storage. 240 is plenty for the time being

The NEX series have terrible voltage regulation, which can potentially damage the VRMs of your GPU and motherboard.

current parts list (there are to 1080ti's just to see if i could eventually move to sli if it gets better in the future)

If you are upgrading, I don't think SLI is worth it. Volta, Vega and Navi will be much more powerful.

is there a reason for the move away from the 850 evo? i have heard many good things about it, and would like to keep it as my m.2 boot drive, but if there is a good reason to move i will. the hdd is one of the two i was looking at, the other being the wd black, for reliability, but i dont think i will go that direction. as for the cpu cooler, ive had the dark rock 3 suggested to me, but i have also seen some pretty good benchmarks for the corsair aio, and have never done liquid cooling before, so it would be a first.

I'm pretty sure the 850 EVO is a AHCI M.2. SSD. This means it will run at SATA speeds. The SL308 is a very good alternative. Also NVME is useless at this point. For the HDD, you should consider this one and the Seagate Barracuda. Both are reliable. I have both. I like air cooling, but if you like liquid cooling, you can change it.

probably not, the case rgb and the ram seem fine, i think i may put a strip inside the case if anything. the case has all the fans i need for now, and rgb fans would be a future upgrade
