I have to ship a large CRT TV by friday. Suggestions on how to pack it? Need to get materials locally.

How large of a CRT?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Very well. (seriously)

I would wrap it in soft material first, then put it in a rigid box, then some bulk packing and then another box. Then go crazy with "fragile" and "handle with care" tapes. That's really about all you can do without designing specific packing for the TV.

I plan to double box but I don't think I've seen like foam corners at staples or office depot.

You could contact the courier to see if they can provide any packaging or you could go to a place that sells a lot of bulky items to see if they have any scrap/spare packaging they could give you. When I worked in retail, it's surprising how much excess packaging you have, we used to give it away if people asked for some.

You could also look to see if there are any couriers in your area that specialise in shipping things like TVs, as they may have some packaging designed for it. It may cost quite a bit though, so that really depends on how much this CRT is worth.

I've been looking in my area, not finding much that's not wholesale. I think I'll check if fedex can do this and for how much and how they'll pack it. I've had them pack stuff before, it's a bit salty, but they guarantee it. May be too big though

I'd double check if they cover glass/TV screens. Pretty much all couriers here in the UK, except the ones who specialise in glass/TVs will not cover them if they break.

I wouldn't worry to much about that, I attacked a CRT with a Chair and baseball bat and I broke before it did. they really don't make em like they used to :P:P but defs lots of scratch protection :)

Personally I would crate it if it's being sent by a shipping company, and box it inside with packing foam.
