I am going to get a Ryzen 1600X since Biostar released their new AM4 ITX board. I would like to keep it all AMD, so I think an RX 580 will suffice for 1080p 144Hz along with some of the CAD and stuff I do (I really don't think I need something like a GTX 1070 or 1080). I want to go for the RX 580 since it's just been released, but there doesn't seem to be any waterblocks for it. I think I will run into power limitations if I get an RX 480 reference card along with an EK waterblock.

Does anyone know if EK is going to release a block for the Nitro+ RX 580 or anything? Something with better power delivery than the reference 480 PCB? And does EK make a waterblock for AM4?

They already make AM4 blocks.  If you currently have an Intel waterblock, they will send you an AM4 plate for free as they are the same block with a different bracket plate.  Despite the fact that I never went with Ryzen, I ordered the free plate just in case I ever sell the block and an AMD user was a potential buyer.

As far as the RX580 waterblock, you'll have to stay tuned.  You can even reach out to them via email to see if they'll let you know.  They are great at responding to questions.

If the RX 580 uses the RX 480 reference design you can use a EK block.

(I use a RX480 block on a RX470)

I'd be slightly cautious in assuming that PCBs are identical.  One cap, resistor, or anything changed could lead to serious problems.  Best to let someone else be that guinea pig.  xD

Yes but there are no reference PCB RX 580s.

No official reference designs just like the RX 470, but manufactures can use old/other designs. my RX470 uses the RX480 reference design. they could make a "cheap" RX580 by using the old RX480 design.

usually best not to risk it.

So an RX 480 would be better?

if you want it to be water cooled it would be easier, assuming it is a reference card.

you can always use a universal block

or buy a RX580 send it to alphacool to get a custom block made. (you can get it free too)

http://www.alphacool.com/alphacool/en-send-it-and-get-one-cooler-for-free

EDITED: you can use a universal block but then the ram and VRM are not cooled by the block.
