Q1: Would I be able to maintain a steady 250 FPS with this build? (If NOT which parts should I upgrade specifically?) (If YES which parts could I downgrade to save money?)

Q2 : Is this build even good? Q3 : Does anyone have recommendations for a surge protector that could support this computer and monitor plugged into it (What I'm planning to use is the APC SurgeArrest Personal PER7 (7 Outlet) 120V Surge Protector)

you might want to upgrade your GPU. I'm not sure if a 1060 can push 250FPS in overwatch.

other than that, it might be worth it to go with a 7700K and a Z series board, so you can OC your CPU to 5Ghz to get higher FPS, since CPU performance does matter a lot in high-FPS scenarios.

BTW: What do you need 250FPS for? nearly no monitors can display that, and the ones that can have adaptive sync anyway

Im not interested in OC'ing but i need the 250 FPS to make use of 250hz monitor, I think thats how it works at least

Drop CPU cooler

Get B250 mobo

Get 16GB RAM (optional)

Get a better GPU like 1070 and 1080

Get a better PSU, EVGA NEX is mediocre

A) Will it be able to? No.

  1. 1060 probably will not get you those kinds of frame rates.
  2. that monitor will only display up to 240fps. I do not know of a monitor that can.
  3. If you are going to be going with an Z270 chip set, get a 7700k, or a different motherboard.

B) Yes, though the mix of a locked cpu and an unlocked chip set is not necessarily a wise idea. I also would double check to make sure you won't be running into any clearance issues with the height of that cooler and your chosen case.

C) any surge protector should work. If you are concerned about shut downs during a power outage, look into a ups.

if you have no interest in overclocking, then I would stay away from a Z series motherboard. And that monitor is only 240hz, not 250

Faster ram is a waste since you can't OC it on b250 and cxm is as good quality but semi modular and cheaper so no reason not to get it. Other than that I have no recommendations, except you might want to get windows from kinguin instead (if it feels too shady for you then you don't have to tho).

The only reason you might want an aftermarket cooler is for acoustic reasons. Up to you if you want it or not. Of course, you could just buy everything and if the stock is too loud for you you could just buy something like a pure rock afterwards.

thank you for all the reasoning behind the parts, my thought process was alot different and didnt make sense in hindsight, and yes it feels a little too shady for me to get windows 10 from someone other than microsoft, also there are 2 pure rock coolers the pure rock slim and the pure rock, which one should i get? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/2g3k/saved/HtkZLk (the build so far)

Just the pure rock. The slim is for small form factor cases, which isn't applicable to you.

Yup, looks good. It seems like you're going a bit more premium than originally anticipated xD

You might want to get a g2 psu since you're going more high end. Up to you if you want to spend the extra $40 or so.
