Hello guys

Just wanted your opinion on a new build i am helping assemble with my friend

Now what he will be doing with this build is more so gaming than anything else such as skyrim, mmo games, RPG, etc possibly bf4

Also he did mention he may be doing some light rending

Now here are the parts iv selected however i wanted your input if anything can be improved now all up i managed to get the build to be about $1750 or so and that is including everything all the way down to the operating systems

So here is the part list iv chosen

Fractal Design R4 With Window and also without ~ $70
AMD FX 8350 ~ $225

Noctua NH-D14 ~ $89.00
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3 990FX ~ $174
Samsung EVO 120GB ~ $109

Seagate ST2000DM001, 7200RPM, SATAlll 6GB/S, 64MB cache ~ $99
Silverstone Stryder 850W Gold certified ~ $179
Gskill Ares 1866MHz 8GB ~ $99
Asus R9 280X TOP 3GB ~ $409

Bitfenix Hydra Fan controller ~ $32

(case fans) Noctua NF-P12 x 5 ~ $125

Lite-On IHAS324 24x DVDRW ~ $22

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with SP1 OEM ~ $109

Now my friends budget was around the $1600 mark or so but what do you guys think?

Also he has a monitor and keyboard and mouse etc so this is just the $1600 for the tower

Thanks guys!

EDIT: I chose a high PSU for future upgrades such as adding a additional card and future builds

Good build, just a few things.

Get noctua 2x NF-F12's and 2 NF-S12A. Place the 2 F12s at the front as intake, the S12A's as rear and top exhaust. No need for 2 exhaust fans at the top. The R4 has a build in fan controller. So, no need to get another? The build in fan controller supports 3 fans but you can use the splitter cable to connect all 4 fans to it. The NH-D14 is plugged into the motherboard and controlled by the bios/eufi.

I assume this 850W is taken because he wants to later CF? Do tell him that he has to do this within a year ~ else it's often better to sell the current card and buy the newer version. If he won't CF later on. (and he won't really need to do this I assume) then grab a 600W PSU off Be Quiet, I can't really compare this to well but I do know that the Be Quiet fans are very silent. And with the noctua fans, would be a shame to have a PSU fan be the only thing you can really hear from the system. You can consider aswell to get a SeaSonic X series or Corsair RM, AX or TXv2 (im not sure wich other has this) They have a build in 0 RPM mode. So the fan won't spin at all unless it starts to get under more load. Depending on PSU but useally around 30% load. So when he starts to game.

NZXT Phantom windowed, Asus Z77 Sabertooth, Intel 2600K, Noctua NH-D14, EVGA 780 Classified, Crucial Ballistic Tactical, Crucial M4 128GB + Samsung 850 EVO, Corsair RM850, Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty Peripherals: Sennheiser HD598, FinalMouse Classic, SteelSeries Qck Heavy, Ducky Shine Zero (MX Brown), AOC G2460PF & Qnix QX2710

Build Log: Phantom - Antique Noctua
