Hey guys! I noticed this a few weeks ago and the problem seems to vary. Sometimes it's there, other times it's not. Sometimes a restart fixes it. With only basic background programs running, my RAM usage is silly levels of high. I tried disabling Superfetch as one search suggested, but no dice. This only seems to be happening after I recently upgraded to Windows 10. Below are some screenshots to demonstrate the issue and lack of details for the source in task manager. Can someone please help me out here?

It's because you upgraded.

You need to do a clean install.

I did do a clean install from the very start, so it shouldn't be that.

Are you sure?

Because this seems like a memory leak...

I completely formatted my drives before installing Windows 10.

bad stick of ram or ram slot ? try booting with one removed and see  if its any different .. or boot load memtest

I can try that, but this is something that can be fixed occasionally by simply restarting, which makes me think maybe it's not related to the RAM sticks themselves

The issue does seems to be a memory leak or a faulty ram stick

go onto Resource Moniter and see what that is saying as it goes into more depth then task manager plus from there you would be able to deduce better if a process is causing a memory leak.

If you dont find anything start testing your sticks.

If it started when you upgraded to Windows 10, then it seems like a regular Windows 10 memory leak. LOTS of people have these.

1st, disable the "Get tips" notification, it's in Settings > System > Notification

Then you should see an option for "Get tips, tricks, and suggestions as you use Windows", turn it off and restart.

It's also possible that the problem is with NDU (Network Data Usage Monitoring), you can disable it through the registry:

Under :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\Ndu\

Find the key "Start" and change it's value to 4 and restart. (You can also do that through Services.msc if it's easier for you).

Let me know if it's still there after these and I'll check my notes when I get to work, I know there's more but I can't remember exactly what right now.

Thanks for the tips! I made the changes, but this problem seems to come and go, so I can't report back on success just yet. Sadly I'm not sure how often this was happening, I only know from the few times in the last 3 weeks I've noticed it due to a game running poorly, but now I'm going to be regularly monitoring it and will post back if/when the problem reoccurs!

Did it happen during the weekend??
