Hot room low temp gpu

Just keep it at your current settings as they are fine, just open the window in your room.

My gpu is 980ti and I want a cool room especially during the spring when it gets hotter. Should I keep fan speed low or high for smaller room temp? or doesn't it matter?

 

Gpu is currently 45 to 53 degrees celsius with 40% fan speed, 144hz (display based fps cap).

If you care about idling temps, then you do need to up the fan speed for warmer temperatures. Otherwise, during games, the GPU is going to want to push itself to 85C and keep the fans up as long as it can.

my idle temp is around 40 degrees with 40% fan speed.

well, if for example your 980Ti was clogged with dust to the point it was just before the edge of thermal throttling, it would still have the same thermal output as a healthy 980Ti.

Fan speed and GPU temps alone do not affect ambient room temperature. Ambient heat is directly related to power consumption. The more power your card consumes, the hotter the room will be. It doesn't matter if your cooler is keeping the GPU frosty, or even if it's on liquid. The heat your GPU is putting out has to go somewhere, and the only thing GPU coolers do is redirect that heat somewhere else. The only way to reduce your room temps while gaming is to use a GPU with less power consumption, or to down clock.

Gpu is currently 45 to 53 degrees celsius with 40% fan speed, 144hz (display based fps cap).

 

The only way you're going to see a cooler room is by limiting framerates (so the card isn't running as hard) or underclocking the card (so it isn't capable of running as hard).

 

Your GPU (as well as the processor, for that matter) consumes X amount of power while gaming.  Because aside from the fans moving air it performs zero physical work, X amount of energy gets converted to heat in your room.  Whether the fans are cranking hard or not does effect the temperature the card is running at, but it has no bearing on how much or how little it's going to heat up your room.  The card at 50C with the fans at 100% adds just as much heat to your room as the card at 75C with the fans at 50%.

 

The only way to change this is to let some heat out of your room.  I'd recommend a window fan blowing out.
