Auto Format Text

It seems like an endless battle trying to make people format their text. Almost a quarter of the posts I see are completely invisible or so faint it is unreadable. So instead of having the format button on the bottom as an option why not reverse it so it auto formats and there is a button to keep formatting. Just a thought as it happens quite often.

Just keeping this here as a I've already asked about the issue.

 

It can't be done since you have to strip all formatting but some of it is necessary for the auto embedding feature with some websites.

There is a setting that very nearly does what you want. However, the setting is "remove formatting, and do not allow user to restore". That's not what we want, so unfortunately we're stuck with the current system until such time as the IPS overlords decide to listen to feedback.
