What is this thing? (help pls)

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

You don't need it if you are planning on controlling fans from mobo or by controller. Its more for connecting fans to PSU and making them more quiet.

Sorry i'm kinda noob in terms of PC fans...

I just bought some Corsair case fans but i don't know what this is for?

is it an extension but why is it so short? and if it's needed, why didn't they permanently attached it with the fan cables?

it will also be greatful if someone post a youtube link of a vid telling me the difference when using fans with or without this "extension" :P

also should i plug my case fans to my mobo or my case fan controller (NZXT phantom 410)?

I also mainly use 7 volts btw and 5 volts when my pc is idle...

When 2 things meet each other, Quantum stuff happens.

Might be used to lower the voltage on the fans. making them run slower and quieter.

It makes the fan quieter, so its a voltage regulator

Hope I could help!

It's a low-voltage adapter. If you are unable to control the fan speed with software or the motherbaord, this is used to slow down the fan, usually to 7 volts.

That bulge in the middle guarantees this, it's a resister.
