is Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT) ‡ important for a esxi host cpu

VT-X is pretty much essential for virtualizing a 64-bit operating system. And yes, that processor supports it. All the newer Xeons will so I would go for it.

 

Edit: I didn't really understand the question. VT-x is very important, but EPT is only necessary if you plan on doing nested virtualization, such as virtualizing a hypervisor.

okay i get it i want both so i changed cpu to accommodate thanks for the help
