without the BIOS update?

when did I say that? As I've said multiple times already, it's unlikely the motherboard doesn't already have the relevant BIOS but he can just ask Newegg to update it for him if he wants the peace of mind.

that is not a guarantee, it's a retailer, not a service center.

Wot. Technically they have to supply you with components that work. I've never once seen a retailer not update the BIOS of a motherboard when asked. I had Newegg update BIOS' on H81 chipset motherboards for me several times.

it will depend on the representative, it's not a guaranteed service. OP i highly suggest you contact than to see if you can have this arrangement.

Anecdotal but cool. Where from though? From Newegg? I probably shouldn't say I've never seen a retailer not do it because I have zero experience with Amazon and motherboards, I can imagine Amazon not doing it. However, I've had Newegg, Overclockers UK and Scan UK update BIOS' several times for system I've built, and I've had friends buy from them and get them to update BIOS', as well as suggested at least a hundred times to people get motherboards from one of those and have them update the BIOS. Not once had an issue.

They will update the BIOS. It's very little trouble for them to do so and they'll absolutely do it to gain a sale/customer. I've had them do it before and I've had friends ask them to do it. Places like Amazon might not, but Newegg are much more likely to do it.

Even if he does buy it, Newegg don't update the BIOS and it does just so happen to arrive without the relevant BIOS for Kaby Lake, he can just boot with the discrete GPU connected to the monitor instead of motherboard I/O and that should let him boot in to BIOS, where he can update the BIOS himself. Instead of not getting past post when connected to the motherboard I/O.

This is what I meant by asking them to update the BIOS for him. He just has to contact Newegg by speaking to someone through live chat, tell them he needs the motherboard BIOS updated and then he can leave a note on his order asking for the BIOS to be updated. Takes all of 5-10 minutes and he saves $21.

If you can get Newegg to guarantee you that the board will ship with a certain BIOS revision, sure. I've personally never heard of Newegg installing a motherboard into a PC to update the BIOS on request, and I think that sounds kind of weird. But the worst they can do is say no, and then you know for sure what your options are.

In any case, I don't think there would be an issue with returning it if there was a problem.

I would imagine they would want to update it rather than have you send them the product.

You're going to have to contact Newegg customer service to get them to do anything anyway. Why bother imagining when you can just send the e-mail and get a real answer?

This whole thread is just people arguing over something that is either objectively true or objectively false, and easy for the buyer to figure out.
