Thanks for the link. My dad always told me that something to good to be true usually is. Is it possible that this really works?

Tor is too good to be true.

It makes you basically completely anonymous connection wise, but it's slow as shit. If you're trying to use that "anonymity box" for gaming or latency sensitive applications, don't bother buying it. Your ping will be in the near thousands, and you'll get kicked from any game server you try to join.

A vpn on the other hand will be fine, as long as you live near the server, although every vpn provider keeps some form of logs, and their provider keeps another set of logs.

Unfortunately, there's no mix between the two and you'll either have speed or the ability to be completely anonymous. Your pick.

Looks like it uses TOR. I thought the NSA and FBI and CIA and many other 3 letters of the alphabet already cracked TOR?

Lol no. Tor is still master race as long as you're using it right. I honestly still doubt the NSA is all that, considering they've been hacked numerous times and their shitty exploits were leaked onto the internet. Not to mention, that windows exploit everyone was worried about had already been patched by Microsoft months ago. The NSA can't do shit and you should stop being paranoid.

The way the FBI was finding all those pedos was through executing JavaScript on the browsers client side which would force their computer to ping an FBI server. ICMP isn't masked by tor.

So it is a possible solution as long as you are willing to give up speed?

The FBI and NSA have infected Nodes with malware, so yeah, they fucking cracked it. My advice to use is watch the movie Snowden. After watching that, I dont think its hard to think that the NSA has its hooks in to about everything.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

There seems to be people on both sides of the fence lol. If tor was so bad then why are there some many black market websites still up? The more research I do the more it looks like the majority of tor users dont want more people on it.

Just because they can intercept the data, doesn't mean they can find the people who run the sties. Also, the FBI has very limited jurisdiction outside the US. The NSA is more worried about ISIS then some guy selling drugs, guns or people on the black market. Especially if those people are not really trying to harm the US.

So I guess that Tor is great for stopping non government prying eyes?

I don't see how infecting nodes with malware is gonna do anything. I don't think you know how tor works.

If I hop on an entry node that's infected with nsa shitware, I still have two more hops until I reach my destination. They have no idea where I'm going.

If they infect the middle node, they still have no idea where it's going to, or where it's coming from.

If they infect the last node, they have no idea where any of the data is coming from.

Tor isn't bad. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

The only reason you'd want to use tor is for illegal stuff. I suggest you use a VPN instead. Tor just isn't worth it for everyday browsing.

btw there's javascript exploits out there that can easily reveal your tor IP if you don't block javascript (yes, tor comes installed with an option for that).

To my understanding they have targeted exit nodes. At least what I have read.

That would do absolutely nothing. Unless they're going to attempt to inject some of the malicious javascript that I talked about above, then it's completely useless.

Even if they got a search warrant to get the ISP logs running the entry guards and relay nodes, all they would see are thousands of IP addresses, Which is why they don't do that.

Ok, thanks for clearing this up. I am going to get the Pro Anonabox and see if the VPN/Tor works for me. If Tor is to slow I can just go on the VPN and all is well. ^_^

I want to try the Tor network, it might be helpful in work related projects.

There's no reason to buy that expensive box. Literally just go purchase an http://www.privateinternetaccess.com subscription. I can vouch for them being a good company. I've never heard of the people you've listed.
