Do I have a bottleneck?

I'm playing Battlefield 1 with around 40-60 fps but I used CAM to check my CPU and GPU usage. CPU usage at around 95-100% and GPU is like 60%

Specs:

i3-4130

GTX 1050

8GB DDR3 RAM

not as such see bf1 is pushing 80% on my 7600k and theres your problem your cpu is not up to the job of running bf1 try runing dsr mode on your 1050 and running 1440p as it will take some load off your cpu and may help performance in a completely backwards way as higher resolutions take load off the cpu and onto the gpu ie if you can get it to were your gpu is running at say 80% or 90% with the cpu maxed out u should be gettin better performance in total from your system i mean it might not work but try it try

seriously though, you won't really have a bottleneck. The 1050 isn't that powerful of a GPU. Also, it'll only run at what it needs to. If you play a game with the little monitor thingy on, it'll fluctuate a lot, as will the clock speed.

ok i assumed u was on a 1080p try using dsr mode on your card (i assume the 1050 has it) and running a higher resolution to unload your cpu and load up your gpu it might help

Looking at his specs I'd say there isn't a bottleneck anywhere. BF1 can be quite demanding at times.

Whats 900p? I've got a 1680x1050 monitor. So 900p is smaller?

well then the 1050 would be the bottle neck, no? and if it's only pushing 60 frames to the monitor, then the monitor is the bottle neck.

So the GPU is bottlenecking itself? And he could have V-Sync on, which will limit it to 60fps (Unless you have it on fast).

Oh, then that is a CPU bottleneck. A serious one. Something ain't right, man.

It's not that your CPU is too old, I have an i5 that's Haswell too and it runs fine.

If I let my game run higher than my refresh rate will that help?

is that not what v-sync does knee caps the GPU to only push the FPS the monitor can refresh?

If you let it run as fast as it wants, it probably won't drop as low. I'd try it and see if there's an improvement.

Bottleneck is honestly an overused term. Equilibrium is hard to come by.
The real question is: Should I upgrade to a 4 core?
The answer to that is yes.

I'm running it at fast, and don't have any screen tearing. I don't have any FPS games, but I tried looking around quickly in Valley Benchmark (I had a ton of screen tearing before), and no screen tearing. Also, I didn't see a difference between "On" and "Fast". It'll only take 10 minutes, so just try it on both.

if the monitor cannot physically keep up with the GPU, then it (the monitor) is the bottle neck.
