Probably not, and in this case 2 potatoes isn't better. Framerates og from 11 to 16 and now you have stuttering and all the other crap that comes with crossfire.

A friend of mine might be able to get his hands on a second 6450 for free and wanted to crossfire it with his first, asked for my help. I looked on the AMD website and didn't see it listed anywhere as compatible, does anyone know if it would work?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

Even if they work, it will be 2 potatoes and not really help much.

I have done this with 5450s(there basically the same card)

Performance is 50% better in the best cases, and not worth it really, but works if the board supports it.

it will work.

There is no reason to do this if your not gaming.

Non gaming programs will be the same speed or a bit slower as they can't use crossfire. If you want to run more monitors, don't use crossfire.

I just want a third monitor for now. Hopefully getting build upgrade soon so this should be temporary

dont' use crossfire then. It wont help you at all.

You can use any gpu, it doesn't have to be the same model or brand(a gtx card will work fine)

Bruh, I literally just told you this over Skype :P

For more monitors you don't need to crossfire, get the cheapest compatible card, I'll go find you something if that's all you want

They won't work together. There's only one game that can do AMD + Nvidia cards right now and game devs don't seem to have liked that feature so I don't see other games doing it.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

If it's just for a third monitor, that's fine and it will work.

They won't combine their performance, but they will perform individually and give you monitor support

At this point you should be looking at a card for games, if you don't want to do games just run the 2 6450s

For a start, a GTX 1050 ($100). From there jump to an RX 470/570 ($170), or a 480/580 ($200). Up from that a GTX 1070 for $380.

Oh you seem to have misunderstood me.

Crossfire is a technology that only helps for games. Even if your 6450s don't do crossfire, if you connect both and connect monitors to them, they will work. If you play games you'll only get one GPU to do the work for the game, but monitors on the other card will continue to be usable. So just run the 2 6450s :)
