1060 vs 580?!?

I dont know what to choose. Im so torn. Do I want the Nvidia GTX 1060 or the AMD RX 580.... 

I'm never going to do Crossfire/SLI, I just want to know which is best based on pure performance, and which is more futureproof

RX 580 > GTX 1060.

Simple as that.

At this point the only card more worth than the RX580 on the Nvidia side would be the 1070, which is in another tier of pricing.

Pure perf / raw compute = AMD

Futureproof = AMD

DX11 = Nvidia

Vulkan DX12 = AMD

Nvidia and AMD are basically tied in DX11 with the 500 series.

 

580 > 1060 in nearly everything.

If you do anything openGL, AMD's drivers make a mess of things. If you focus on direct x games, go for the 580.
