2 identical sticks of RAM won't boot

NeutronGTX

Hi everyone

I'm currently experiencing an issue that is absolutely boggling my mind right now. I have two sticks of Corsair vengeance 1600mhz 4gb DDR3 that have been working happily together for plus minus 5 years.

Today, I upgraded to the H100i and after finishing the install all of a sudden my two sticks absolutely refuse to work together.

I have tested both sticks in every slot and it works everytime with just one stick. I even enabled XMP and reset my BIOS to no avail.

Why would a CPU cooler install suddenly cause such strange issues?

Are you sure its the rams fault? Not the pump? did you connect all the connections? Also, do you have another set of memory you could try?

It is definitely the RAMs fault. The DRAM LED built into my Mobo to signify memory errors lights up with both sticks installed. I don't have another set to test with

Very strange. What was your previous CPU cooler?

did you install any of that software with the h100?

I don't think installed anything since he can't get his system to start...

No, I'm running the fans from my mobo so I have no use for the software.

Used to have a hyper 212 evo. My PC does start with only one stick of RAM in, in fact I'm typing this response on that very same computer right now.

Very strange indeed. So you're using your old cooler then? if only one works then it seems to me that the other one is messed up. I'd recommend using memtest and run it couple of hours to see if there is any issues with the memory.

what happens if you revert? might be a pain but something is obviously at fault. best to revert and recheck the ram and slots/
