I was going to get the Corsair 480gb m.2 and use it for my first build as a boot drive and to store some apps , but I don't know how to install the apps on to it.

x2 just installed one and installed a fresh copy of widows 10 blazing fast but I don't have the time with it give a constructive opinion on it yet mine is a Samsung 512gb 960 pro I have a few Samsung drives and they rock.

M.2SSD are no different than any other drive

Get a good SATA one for less.  Samsung if you can afford it, but Silicon Power makes a decent budget one too.
