I7 2600k build with new mobo not posting/starting at all.

Hello everybody, I just bought an used i7 2600k and paired it with an Asus h61m-k motherboard which I bought brand new. 

After putting everything toghether, I cannot seem to get any sign of life out of the computer. The PSU and Ram are working since they are the only components I didn't upgrade apart from the hdd. I connected my old amd build to the same PSU and RAM and everything works fine. However, the only thing I get from the Intel build is a green light on the mobo and nothing else. It won't turn on at all. Fans won't spin either. 

Since it's a cheap mobo and I don't have a case speaker, I cannot hear any possible error code.

I have tested the mobo with only the ram and the cpu installed and nothing happens either. I have tried to short the pins instead of using the chassis power button, I made sure the cpu was seated correctly, I tried the single stick of ram in both slots, I tried with and without the graphics card installled and I tried putting the mobo on top of its box instead of inside the case, but I can't seem to get any sign of life out of the pc.

The CPU does not show in the supported list from the mobo (should have checked before buying) but I don't think that's the problem since I'm not getting a "This CPU is not supported" message. It just won't post at all.

Since CPUs are suppoused to last many years, is it more possible that it is more of a motherboard related problem?

Can I use a multimeter to measure the pins of the mobo speaker and maybe guess the code?

whats your ram speed? 1600 and up is only listed as supported for 3th gen intel cpu's so it could be that the ram is not supported for your 2nd gen intel cpu. it also states on the product page that it only supports cpu's up to 77watts and im pretty sure the i7 2600k pulls way more than that.

I'm not sure about ram speed and I can't check right now. The 2600k is 95w, but many people have paired it and the i5 2500k (95w too) with this mobo and they are able to post and get the CPU not supported error and then boot into windows by pressing f1. I can't even get it to post, cpu fan doesnt spin either.

As for the ram, I have read that if it is faster it would underclock to the supported speed or something along those lines, so it shouldnt be a problem.
