Most games, where you struggle to keep constant high fps.

 

G-Sync eliminates Tearing / stuttering, no matter what fps you get. If you are sensible to Tearing and have to use V-Sync, but then you struggle with "Stuttering", G-Sync will be godsent for you.

 

 

But then again, what Reason is there NOT to buy a g-Sync monitor? If you have 800 bucks for a GTX 1080 ti (and probably other high end parts), you have the money for such a Monitor, which will outlast your whole PC probably.

I didn't notice gsync straight away. Then when I was upgrading to my 1080 and had to go a week using my integrated graphics, 60 fps looked very stuttery when moving the camera etc.
I ended looking forward to my 1080 more, just to get gsync back.
In the future, if a monitor doesn't support gsync, then it's a no buy for me.

but G-Sync has nothing to do with fps. At least how you described it

 

If you have 60 fps capped with V-Sync, it looks EXALCTY as smooth, as 60 fps with G-Sync.

Even frames with 16,67 ms frametimes each. 

G-Sync would come in handy, if you have 60 fps, but farmedrops down to 45 or so all the time when something big happens.

 

You notice G-Sync whenever you have "fluctuating" fps,

Not only that, you see smooth with V-Sync (on normal displays, 60 fps with 60 Hz, v-sync on, perfectly 16,67 ms frametimes.

You also see stuttering (V-Sync on, but LESS fps than Hz), Tearing (no Sync at all, no matter how much fps), and simulation of G-Sync.

From my experience, this is pretty much how it looks like, when fps fluctuate up and down.
